DSVA Takes Awareness Campaign To Odi-Olowo LCDA



As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness across all Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Associations (CDAs) in Lagos State, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) took its sensitization campaign to Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on February 4, 2025, at the council’s general CDC meeting.

In a Statement released by the Head Public Affairs Unit of the Agency, Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, Executive Secretary of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). 

She highlighted that CDCs play a crucial role in ensuring communities remain informed, vigilant, and proactive in addressing abuse and violence.

Mr. Akinde Emmanuel led an interactive discussion on the alarming prevalence of SGBV, shedding light on various forms of abuse, common misconceptions, preventive strategies, and the importance of reporting incidents.

 He also detailed the support services available to survivors and community members.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Odi-Olowo LCDA CDC, J.P. Otunba Adekunle Adebayo, expressed gratitude to DSVA for bringing such a crucial conversation to their community. 

He acknowledged the significance of the initiative and reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to spreading the message and ensuring cases of abuse are reported.

The session concluded with the distribution of DSVA’s toll-free helpline 08000-333-333, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to accessible support. 

Participants pledged to actively report and address cases of SGBV within their communities, ensuring that no survivor suffers in silence.
