President Tinubu Hosts, Rewards Super Falcons, Technical Crew For Outstanding Victory At 2024 WAFCON
President Bola Tinubu has hosted and rewarded Nigeria's women's national football team,the Super Falcons, for their remarkable victory at the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
While speaking at a grand reception held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu conferred the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honor on all 24 players and the 11-member technical crew.
The President also offered Three-bedroom apartments each for the players and the Eleven-man technical crew members at the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Abuja.
In addition, he announced that the players will receive the naira equivalent of $100,000 each, while technical crew members will receive $50,000 each.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Governors Forum, led by Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRasaq, gifted N10 million to each team members.
The team's captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, expressed gratitude for the recognition and rewards, emphasizing the significance of their victory for young girls and women in Nigeria.
The Super Falcons' historic win marked their 10th WAFCON title, solidifying their dominance in African women's football.
