Lagos State Drivers' Institute Organises Year 2025 Train-The-Trainer Programme For Driving School Instructors

The Lagos State Drivers' Institute, LASDRI has organized the year 2025 Train -The -Trainer Programme for Driving School Instructors and Operators with the Theme: 'Drivers Education Panacea to Economic Growth and Development'.

In a Keynote Address at the event held in Alausa, Ikeja, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said Lagos, with over Twenty million residents and nearly Six million registered vehicles, witnesses more than Fifteen million daily motorized trips and if the scale of movement is not managed by competent drivers, it can lead to public health crises, traffic paralysis and massive productivity loss.

Osiyemi lauded the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute, LASDRI, for the recent introduction of computer-based recertification tests, structured three-tier training programmes, mandatory, rehabilitation and specialized, as well as the data-backed training processes, among others.

Earlier in her Welcome Address, General Manager, LASDRI, Afusat Tiamiyu, said the Training offers a unique opportunity for Stakeholders in the Transport Industry to deliberate on policies and issues affecting the transport sub-sector in the Country, with the aim of improving service delivery.

Tiamiyu described Drivers Education as the foundation of road safety which equips individuals with knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to navigate the roads responsibly.

In a Goodwill message, the General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, who was represented by a Director in the Agency, Jubril Oshodi, commended LASDRI for its efforts in ensuring road safety across the State, pledged continued collaboration with the Agency and also urged Driving Instructors to give their best to ensure safe, conducive and orderly roads.
