Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially flagged -off the monthly Environmental Sanitation at Oloosha bus stop along Mushin-Agege Motor Road Corridor.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged residents, traditional Institutions, Local Chairmen, Community and Market leaders, Youth Organisations, Political leaders to partner with the government in ensuring a cleaner Lagos.
The Governor who warned that violators of environmental laws will face the full wrath of the law. announced that residents are expected to observe the Sanitation exercise every last Saturday of the Month voluntarily from 6.30am to 8.30am, about ten years after its suspension.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, noted that the exercise is not just about cleaning, but an audacious step taken by government to transit from linear waste management to turning waste resources to wealth, energy, recyclables and fertilisers for the benefit of residents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, clad in a full cleaning Overall, alongside his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat and the entourage, joined in a demonstrative clean up of the areas, shortly before the flag off from Empire to Oloosha.
