The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, LASODA, has organised the 2025 Ability Games for Persons with Disabilities, PWDs, to promote inclusion and celebrate their talents.
The sporting event brought together athletes who competed in activities such as shot put, chess, ludo, table tennis and ayo, showcasing their resilience, determination and abilities.
Speaking at the event, General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the event, beyond sports, highlights the courage and extraordinary abilities of persons with disabilities.
"Sports has the power to unite people, break barriers and challenge stereotypes, while also providing opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate, compete and excel" she said.
Oyetunde-Lawal emphasized that the Ability Games also serve as a platform for empowerment, confidence building and social integration.
The LASODA General Manager reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a supportive environment where PWDs can live productive and meaningful lives.
