LAGOS RECORDS HIGH LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE AS RE- INTRODUCED MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION BEGINS.

Lagos on Saturday witnessed a highly level of compliance from residents as the state government re-introduced  the monthly environmental sanitation across the State.

Wife of the Governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu who monitored the exercise at Ikoyi/Obalende Local Council Development Area, described residents’ participation as encouraging, noting that the initiative is gradually gaining acceptance across the state.

The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, who participated in the cleaning exercise at Agege, lauded the residents for voluntarily supporting the State government"s bid to ensure a cleaner and safer Lagos, as he led the exercise in Agege area of the State.

While urging residents beyond the environmental sanitation to ensure clean environment at all times, Agoro said the state government will continue to prioritise the welfare of residents.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said compliance level across the state exceeded ninety-eight  per cent, attributing the success to voluntary participation and grassroots sensitisation.

Speaking with newsmen earlier, Chairman Agege Local Government Area, Vinod Obasa, said the council has over two hundred and fifty street sweepers to complement government's efforts and urged residents to voluntarily do the needful for a cleaner Agege.

Residents who defied the early morning rain to participate in the exercise,  commended the Lagos State Government for the reintroduction of environmental sanitation and called for prompt evaluation of waste generated during the exercise noting that failure to do so, negates the purpose.
