The Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, has been named a Media Games Ambassador by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, in recognition of his contributions to grassroots development and good governance.
The honour was presented during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat in Lagos, attended by members of the NUJ Lagos State Executive Council and the Media Games Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi.
Speaking at the presentation, Ajayi described Prince Sanusi as a visionary and selfless leader whose administration has delivered meaningful development projects across the local government.
He said the council had prioritised road construction and rehabilitation, drainage projects, environmental sanitation, public space beautification and initiatives to improve public safety, making communities cleaner, safer and more accessible.
Ajayi noted that the chairman's commitment to improving infrastructure and the welfare of residents had earned him the respect of the people, stakeholders and development partners.
Responding, Prince Sanusi thanked the NUJ for the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to do more.
He dedicated the honour to the management team, staff, legislators and other officials of the local government, saying the achievements of his administration were made possible through teamwork.
The chairman said his administration remained committed to improving infrastructure and the quality of life of residents, stressing that his priority was to ensure roads were repaired regardless of whether they fell under the responsibility of the local, state or federal government.
According to him, the council has completed at least 11 major roads within its first 11 months in office and is working to complete several more projects before the end of the year.
The NUJ Lagos State Council also expressed optimism about strengthening its partnership with the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government ahead of the 2026 NUJ Media Games, scheduled to hold from October 5 to 10 at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to recognising public office holders who have demonstrated excellence in service delivery and contributed to the development of Lagos State
