NUJ Lagos Sets September 28 for 2026 Press Week, Picks Dakuku Peterside for Lecture

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, has announced plans for its 2026 Press Week, scheduled for September 28 to October 4.

The week-long programme will feature a series of activities aimed at promoting professionalism, unity and stronger relationships among journalists and media stakeholders.

A major highlight will be a public lecture on Wednesday, September 30, to be delivered by former NIMASA Director-General, Dr Dakuku Peterside.

Peterside will speak on “Politics, Ports and the Public Interest: The Media’s Catalytic Role in Driving Economic Growth” at the Radio Lagos/Eko FM Multipurpose Hall, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja, at 10 a.m.

NUJ Lagos Chairman, Adeleye Ajayi, said the Press Week provides journalists with an opportunity to interact, network and strengthen professional bonds.

He urged journalists across the state to participate actively in the activities, describing the event as an important annual platform for celebrating the profession.

Other activities include a Health and Awareness Walk on September 28, Chapel Rendezvous on October 1, Juma'at Service and Gala and Awards Night on October 2, while the programme ends with a Thanksgiving Service on October 4.

The Council said the 2026 Press Week will also provide an opportunity for journalists to exchange ideas and renew their commitment to responsible and professional journalism.
